MANILA (2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments) - Tony Parker may have stoled the hearts of the Filipinos present, but it was Nando De Colo who was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Manila. De Colo’s tournament-long brilliance was enough for him to be MVP on top of his scoring 22 points as France trumped Canada to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The 1.96m guard averaged 17.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists over the course of the competition and was, by far, the most consistent and reliable player for coach Vincent Collet. He opened the OQT with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals against the Philippines and also recorded 13 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in last night’s Semi-Final win over Turkey.
De Colo, 29, led all players in steals and ranked 4th in scoring.
