Tunisia's final roster confirmed for Turin OQT

KAUNAS (2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments) - Following Tunisia's 81-56 defeat to Rio Olympics-bound Lithuania on Friday night, head coach Adel Tlatli finalised the North Africans' roster for the 2016 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament (OQT) in Turin.

From 4-9 July, Tunisia will be battling for a place in the Rio Games against Group B opponents Croatia and hosts Italy

While Mohamed HadidaneSalah Mejri, and Amine Rzig - the latter retired from the national team - represent the biggest absences from a side that finished third as hosts of AfroBasket 2015, Firas Lahyani is set to make his debut with the senior team.

We are going to Turin without Salah and Hadidane, but these 12 players are ready to compete. -Tlatli

A 2.01m versatile forward who had a solid season with local side Union Sportive Monastirienne, Lahyani has gained international recognition in 3x3 circles, where he became known as "Air Tunisia" for his athleticism.

The winner of the 2014 FIBA 3x3 World Championships Nike Dunk Contest, Lahyani - who turns 25 on 16 July - is among the players who Tlatli believes desperately need international experience.

"He did well in the preparations," the play caller said to FIBA.com. "Tournaments like the OQT are key for players looking to improve their experience. We are going to Turin without Salah and Hadidane, but these 12 players are ready to compete."

"We may struggle with rebounding but we are going to fight," Lahyani offered.

If Tunisia can advance to the Semi-Finals, they will take on a Group A opponent - Greece, Mexico and Iran.

The winner of the Turin OQT will fill one of the three places on offer for the Rio Olympics, with the two others coming from the Belgrade and Manila OQTs.
