    China v Spain

When and how will China be able to beat Spain has been the central question every time these two teams have met on the world stage. Wednesday's encounter will mark their third one dating back to 2014. As China tried to reach the Semi-Finals at the FIBA Women's World Championship two years ago, they had no answer to Spain's athleticism and talent, who progressed to the Last Four with a 71-55 win. The teams were drawn in Group D of the 2016 FIBA Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament in their quest to qualify for Rio 2016. The Europeans triumphed 77-43 on that occasion.

    USA v Serbia

Serbia will enter the contest trying to avoid their third straight defeat while the USA are looking to stay undefeated through three games. This would have been one of the highlights of the Group Phase if the Serbs were playing at the level that made them Europe champions last summer. However, they have lacked firepower and imagination and are likely to struggle against the 5-time reigning Olympic champions.

    Senegal v Canada

This is a clash of two teams living different experiences in Rio. The African champions have lost their first two games while the American champions couldn't be more motivated following their two consecutive Group B wins. Canada are clearly favourite to improve to 3-0.
