RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - Spain led from start to finish in a 97-43 win over Senegal on Friday evening to improve to 3-1 in Group B at the Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament.

The result means the Spaniards will square off against Canada on Sunday to determine which of the two teams comes in second in the group behind the USA.

As for Senegal, the loss dropped them to 0-4 and ended their bid to reach the Quarter-Finals. The African champions have one last chance to claim a win in the competition when they face Serbia on Sunday.

Turning Point: Spain scored the game's opening 9 points, held a 16-3 lead midway through the first quarter and finished the period with a 26-9 advantage on Laia Palau's buzzer-beater.

Stats Don't Lie: Lucas Mondelo's side dominated in all major statistical categories, outscoring Senegal 58-22 in the paint, out-rebounding them 55-26 and led by as many as 56 points.

Hero: Astou Ndour, a native of Senegal, had 18 points and 12 rebounds to pace Spain. Every Spain player got on the court for a minimum of 5 minutes and all got onto the score sheet. Laura Nicholls finishing with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

The Bottom Line: Senegal were simply no match for Spain and this game enabled Mondelo to limit the minutes of key players ahead of Sunday's clash with Canada.
