    China have no answers against in-form Canada

    RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - Canada claimed a comfortable 90-68 win over China to get their Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament campaign off on the right foot.

    RIO DE JANEIRO (Rio 2016 Olympic Games) - Canada claimed a comfortable 90-68 win over China to get their Women's Olympic Basketball Tournament campaign off on the right foot. 

    Turning Point: The 2015 FIBA Americas Women's champions only trailed for the first 3 minutes and 20 seconds of the game. Veteran Lizanne Murphy came off the bench and provided instance offense as the they pulled away and held a 19-9 lead to end the first quarter. They 

    Stats Don't Lie: China shot 23-of-61 from the field and were out-rebounded 44-31.  

    Game Hero: Tamara Tatham was very efficient in scoring a game-high 20 points in just under 24 minutes of play. She was a perfect 4-of-4 from three-point range and from the free-throw line. Special mention goes out to team captain Kim Gaucher who led all players with 10 rebounds and 7 assists.  

    The Bottom Line: Canada will be pleased with this result but know a different proposition awaits them on Monday when they take on EuroBasket Women 2015 winners Serbia. As for China, they will look to redeem themselves and get a win under their belt against Senegal, also on Monday.
