FIBA publish Long List of Paris Olympics Referees

MIES (Switzerland) - FIBA has published the Long List of 40 referees in contention to officiate at the Olympic Basketball Tournaments Paris 2024.

From this list, 30 will be selected for the Games to officiate the men's and women's tournaments.

The majority on the list have experience of refereeing at a recent major event - FIBA Basketball World Cup, FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup or the Olympics. Many have worked at as many as three of those events.

Nineteen of the referees officiated at the Olympics in Japan, 32 at last year's World Cup in Manila, Jakarta and Okinawa, 11 at the Women's World Cup in Australia in 2022 and 22 at the 2019 World Cup in China.

There are 29 different nationalities, with eight female referees, an increase on the number at the Tokyo Olympics, confirming the investment in FIBA's strategic priority, Women in Basketball, to develop and leverage female officials.
