Teodosic: I've dreamt of the Olympics for a long time

BELGRADE (2016 Rio Olympics) - To say that Serbia captain Milos Teodosic is not prone to exuberant celebrations is probably an understatement, so when you see the charismatic guard walking out the court with a grin on his face, you know that he must have just achieved something other players would be ecstatic about.

Such was the occasion on Saturday night, as Serbia punched their ticket to Rio 2016 by winning the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Belgrade giving the chance to the 29-year-old playmaker to take part at the Olympic Games for the first time in his career.

Teodosic, who had led Serbia to the silver medal at FIBA Basketball World Cup 2014 and at FIBA EuroBasket 2009, spoke to FIBA.com in the wake of his team's success.

FIBA.com: How does it feel to know that you are finally going to your first Olympic Games?
Teodosic: It is a great feeling because this is something I have dreamt about for a long time and finally we have succeeded. We made it, we are going to Rio. I want to congratulate my team-mates because all these five days (at the Belgrade OQT) we showed great basketball. We need to keep going, we will keep practising to be able to play like this in Rio.

FIBA.com: Will Serbia be able to maintain this kind of form throughout July and play this well in Rio without rest?
Teodosic: We are tired even now, the club season ended recently. But tired or not, we showed our character, we showed how much we love to play for our country. We hope the same thing will happen, that we will show it again in Rio and we will make our country proud.

FIBA.com: The fans who supported you here in Belgrade expect you to do great things in Rio, how high will you aim to go?
Teodosic: I don't know, a lot of things can happen. I don't know what to expect at the Olympics, because I've never been there. I am sure we have a good team and just how good it is we will see it in Rio.
