World Association of Basketball Coaches to feature Women in Basketball Coaches Clinics series

MIES (Switzerland) - Following the World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC) initiative to support the global basketball community of coaches during the COVID-19 pandemic period, a six week Women in Basketball Coaches Clinics series conducted by pre-eminent female coaches will be launched.

These clinics wholeheartedly support and endorse one of the FIBA's main strategic pillars for 2019-2023, Women in Basketball, which aims to promote opportunities for women in all areas of basketball including the role of female basketball coaches as leaders.

Featuring some of the top female coaches, such as Tara VanDerveer, Jan Stirling, Anne Donovan and Sandy Brondello, the clinics will feature different basketball topics ranging from Out of Bounds Plays to Experience in Coaching Top Teams.

Selected from its extensive video collection, some new clinics will also be made available through the Women in Basketball Coaches Clinics series.

Commencing on Tuesday, July 14, the Women in Basketball Coaches Clinics series will be livestreamed on WABC's Facebook channel for six weeks, every Tuesday and Thursday at 14:00 CEST with one clinic livestreamed on each of these days.

In launching the featured clinic series, WABC President Patrick Hunt said FIBA and the WABC remained committed to promoting coach development opportunities for female coaches.

"The WABC is delighted to embark on this Women in Basketball journey with FIBA to assist with and grow opportunities for female participation in coaching. These clinics, presented by outstanding female coaches and role models, will not only provide exciting learning opportunities for female coaches and be of benefit to all coaches but hopefully will also inspire more females to coach basketball. The WABC will keep exploring opportunities for the conduct of further Women in Basketball coaching clinics and initiatives continuing to support this journey with FIBA," Mr Hunt said.
