World Association of Basketball Coaches and FIBA release new and improved Coaches Manual

MIES, Switzerland - The World Association of Basketball Coaches (WABC), in association with FIBA, have released a new and improved "Coaches Manual" which is to be made available to all basketball coaches around the world free of charge.

It replaces the book formerly known as "Basketball for Young Players" which consisted of two coaching levels.

The Coaches Manual offers a third coaching level and also includes content specific to Mini-Basketball. Over the course of 2017-2018, it will be translated into different languages including Arabic, Chinese, French, Hindu, Portuguese and Spanish.

The release of the book marks the starting point in a complete review of the coaching education and development resources currently in place around the world. The next step in this process will see the launch in the near future of a new WABC online platform that will centralise all resources and information.

WABC President Patrick Hunt said: "The Coaches Manual provides an outstanding resource for coaches at all levels. It offers them information and techniques to not only enhance players' skills and understanding but also to assist shape players' character and teach values that lead to success in life and our wonderful global game. FIBA and the WABC remain committed to developing and supporting coaches and we are pleased this resource will reinforce that commitment and resolve."

FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann said: "The World Association of Basketball Coaches and FIBA have worked together to revamp and update a guide that is essential in the development and growth of basketball players from a very young age. I wish to thank WABC President Patrick Hunt for seeing this project through."
