TURKEY 2014: 12 teams still in hunt to join Turkey and USA in Quarter-Finals
ANKARA/ISTANBUL (FIBA World Championship for Women) - Hosts Turkey and the United States have clinched Quarter-Final places at the FIBA World Championship for Women and a couple of other teams will join them on Tuesday - the third and last day of the Group Phase.
Spain are to square off against the Czech Republic in a battle for Group A supremacy while Australia and Belarus will battle for top spot in Group C. The winners of those two games will advance directly to the Quarter-Finals in Istanbul, with that stage of the competition to be played on Friday.
Four other places in the Last Eight will still be up for grabs, however, and those will be determined on Wednesday when the Qualifications to Quarter-Finals phase is played.
Involved in that stage will be the teams that finish second and third in the four pools of the Group Phase, something that will be known after Tuesday's games are played in Ankara and Istanbul.
The last-place sides in the four pools will be eliminated from the 16-team tournament.
Mozambique have lost their games in Group B to Canada and France and have no way of advancing to Wednesday's Qualifications to Quarter-Finals phase, even if they upset Turkey on Tuesday.
In Group D, Angola have suffered heavy defeats to Serbia and China and also have no chance of progressing. They will have only pride to play for when they take on the United States in Istanbul's Abdi Ipekci.
Here is what's at stake on Tuesday for all the teams at the FIBA World Championship for Women in Turkey.
