Puerto Rico appoints Carlos Arroyo as its male National Team General Manager

SAN JUAN (Puerto Rico) – Former point guard and captain of Puerto Rico's National Team, Carlos Arroyo, was confirmed by its country's basketball federation as the new General Manager of the men's national team.

"I'm very happy and honored with this great opportunity that the Puerto Rican Basketball Federation and its President Yum Ramos has given me," said Arroyo, who's already been on staff since February 2020, as a National Program consultant. He has taken part with the recruitment of players and worked closely with former NBA player, like Shabazz Napier, during the last FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers window in San Juan.

"I depend on, and I trust in all the experience basketball has given me to take charge of this position. I know how demanding my people are with the team and the responsibility and seriousness this job entails, and so I will give my best, just as I did during the 15 years I wore my island's colors," he added in his statement to FBPUR's official website.

As for the FBPUR's President, Mr. Yum Ramos, stated: "We're very happy with Carlos' work in our National Program. He has a very good relationship with the players and his management has been very helpful for the National Team. With this appointment, we seek to take the National Team to the next level and continue adding the experience of former players to our program."

The next objective for Puerto Rico's National Team is the Olympic Qualifiers in Serbia, where they'll play for the only available ticket for Tokyo.
