MIES (Switzerland) - Following a successful year of youth events with the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cups, FIBA has launched the new system for the FIBA World Ranking Youth categories.

The basic principle of the new Youth's system is the same as the FIBA World Ranking Senior system, introduced before the launch of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 Qualifiers in November 2017.

    Let's do the math!

Moving from a competition-based system to game-based, the new ranking is calculated according to the results of games from the past 2 editions of the U19 and U17 FIBA World Cups as well as the 2 most recent editions of Youth Continental Cups. This replaces the system in place under the previous ranking where an eight-year period was taken into consideration for ranking elaboration.

For the new FIBA World Ranking Girls, presented by Nike, champions of the most recent U19 and U17 Women's Basketball World Cups the USA maintain their top-ranked spot with 817.9 points, Australia second place with 684.7 points, France third with 666.2 points, China fourth with 641.9 points, and Spain a close fifth with 627.2 points.
