FIBA new Finance Commission holds inaugural meeting
MIES - FIBA's new Finance Commission, which is to operate during the 2014-2019 term of office, met for the very first time on Wednesday at the House of Basketball.
MIES - FIBA's new Finance Commission, which is to operate during the 2014-2019 term of office, met for the very first time on Wednesday at the House of Basketball.
Ingo Weiss, FIBA's Treasurer and the Chairman of the Finance Commission said: "This meeting of the new Finance Commission was a historical one because it was the first time ever looking at the budget of ONE FIBA. This means we are talking about FIBA [World] and its Regional Offices in Africa, Americas, Asia, Europe and Oceania. FIBA President Horacio Muratore stressed to us the importance of finding the best way possible of having all the financial departments of FIBA and the Regional Offices work together."
The duties of FIBA's Finance Commission are:
- To review and recommend the FIBA draft budget for submission to the Central Board for approval
- To prepare financial statements for the Central Board for approval
- To study and recommend acceptance of the auditor's report to the Central Board
- To recommend financial investment policies
