MIAMI (United States) - The one-year countdown is on for the tip-off to the FIBA AmeriCup 2022. The flagship basketball competition of the Americas is set to take place in Brazil, from September 2 to 11, 2022.

The United States come in as the defending AmeriCup champions, having lifted the tournament trophy in 2017 when Argentina, Colombia and Uruguay jointly hosted the event.

The desire to see the best players from the Americas up close won't have to wait much longer. While the time comes, Brazil will take care of having everything ready for the 19th edition of the most prestigious competition in the Americas.

The South American country will once again host since 1984 when the city of Sao Paulo saw its national team be crowned AmeriCup champs, so the hosts come in with some high aspirations.
