FIBA Americas Referee Department completes another National Referee Training Camp in Belize
For the first day of activities, Mr. Geraldo Fontana, FIBA AMERICAS Referee Manager was in charge of the Opening Act of the Camp via Video Conference call.
The Camp could count with the presence of the International Referees designated to officiate the FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers Group A:
The first topic spoken by the Referee Instructor: Ms. Alejandra Gaytán was the Modifications to the rule, where the Instructor explained the changes, supported by the participation of the International Referees and some video materials.
Individual Officiating Techniques was the second and very important topic boarded for the Referees of the Camp where they were instructed about Communication, body language, signals, and all the parts that comprehend the IOT.
To end with the activities of the day, 3 Person Officiating was instructed, by a presentation, and right after that, some videos were shown for the participants to discuss.
Second and last day of activities. The Schedule were programmed for the participants to be from 10am to 2pm on the court.
FIBA Fitness Test was the opening for this day.
To continue with the program, some IOT topics and Mechanics were showed putting emphasis on the use of the voice and body language while signaling.
To finish with the activities on the court, the participant made some drills:
Effective and adjusting positioning, rotations and transitions from every position, etc.
After finishing with the drills and activities on the court, the group of participants visited the Marion Jones Complex to watch the Game Clips of the FIBA AmeriCup Qualifiers with the Referees of the tournament to talk and discuss about the situations presented.
Such an special closure that the Camp could have by receiving the visit and powerful message from Mr. Usie Richards, the President of FIBA Americas who empowered the participants to keep working by the love for this sports that is growing, making an emphasis in all the efforts that the Belizean National Federation are doing by bringing and organizing tournaments, such as this type of Camps too for the benefit and development of the Officiating in this Nation.
He also shared some stories with the group, remarking the importance of having a good level of refereeing and how this could impact on the growth of basketball in this country.
To finish the Camp, Mr. Paul Thompson, Belizean National Federation President, thanked to Mr. Richards for his presence and to the FIBA Americas Referee Department for its commitment and effort.
