LUOL HOLD SESSION WITH YOUTH
The South Sudan Basketball Federation on February 15th held a program with Luol Deng titled 'Basketball and Youth Development in South Sudan.'
Deng, the current President of the South Sudan Basketball Federation, was on the program with Dr. Arou Ramadan, the Deputy Secretary General of the federation.
MORANS GET BOOST AHEAD OF AFROBASKET QUALIFIERS
Kenya Morans already in strict training for the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Qualifiers in Tunisia received a huge boost from the Information, Communications and the Digital Economy Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo who, on behalf of his foundation, donated two sets of playing kits to the team.
ADAORA ELONU GIVES BACK TO SCHOOLS
Former D'Tigress Captain Adaora Elonu is giving back to schools in Nigeria.
The three-time AfroBasket winner shed light on the initiative, noting: “We started first in one village, which has six primary schools. Distributed school supplies and recognised top performers. We will soon announce the first scholarship of the foundation. The foundation serves different realms. Sporting (basketball), Education, and Health."
RIVERS STATE GOVERNOR REWARDS HOOPERS
The Executive Governor of Rivers State, Siminalaye Fubara, has pronounced a Fifty Million Naira reward for members of Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club following their emergence as champions of the 2023 Nigeria Premier Basketball League.
Governor Fubara said this at a grand reception for the team held at the State Executive chamber in Port Harcourt on Friday.
ABIDJAN HOLD 1ST EDITION OF 3x3 REUNION & BROTHERHOOD TOURNEY
The first edition of the Reunion and Brotherhood 3x3 tournament was held in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire over the weekend.
It was hosted by former Ivorian international Patricia Lorougnon.
FIBA Africa Secretary General, Alphonse Bile was one the guests along with representative from local clubs, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Liberia, and officials of the United States Embassy.
BUZ appoint Youth National Team coaches for 2024-2025
The Basketball Union of Zimbabwe have appointed coaches for the upcoming competitions for 2024-2025.
Those appointed are U18 Boys (tentatively April 2024 in Zambia) Head Coach: Tawanda Nemutambwe.
For the U16 Boys (tentatively May 2025 in Namibia) have as Head Coach: Ladslaus Uneisi.
ANALAMANGA WINS U23 3x3 'ROAD TO GOLD'
In Madagascar, Analamanga emerged victorious in the finals of the "De la Rue vers l'Or" tournament, where they defeated Amoron’imania 18-9.
Boeny completed the podium, while Maya Andrianantenaina grabbed the MVP trophy.
"De la Rue vers l’Or” is a programme set up by the Malagasy Basketball Federation, in association with the French Embassy in Madagascar.
It was aimed at finding the four best female U23 3x3 players for the Africa Games next month. The camp is also about sharing experience and learning to better work on individual and collective fundamentals.
BEAU VALLON HEAT WINS WARM-UP TOURNAMENT
In Seychelles, Beau Vallon Heat kicked off the year on a winning note, defeating Anse Boileau Drifters in a closely contested game (68-61). Kris Bouchereau of the Beau Vallon-based team was named MVP of the Finals.
