KEN - Paul Agali Otula is the new Kenya Basketball Federation chairman

NAIROBI (KBF) - Paul Agali Otula, senior principal at Maseno High School, one of Kenya's most prestigious learning institutions, was over the weekend elected the new Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) chairman.

In an election held at the Kenya National Sports Council boardroom at Nyayo National Stadium and conducted by council's vice chairman Nderitu Gikaria, Otula trounced the out going treasurer, George Omondi "Nyundo" 26-5.

Vitalis Gode retained his position as the Secretary General by going in ,a move that was welcomed by the 31 delegates because of continuity. New members of the executive include Peter Orero ( treasurer), Chris Kinuya (second vice chairman), Joseph Amoko (fixtures secretary) and David Demba (assistant fixtures secretary).

Otula in his maiden speech after being given a four year mandate at the helm said that he will work with everyone to promote the game. He added that there will be a major difference in the manner the game is run in the country.

Topping his agenda will be the Premier League tip off and Kenya's participation at the continental forum. He said his immediate challenge will be to see Kenya junior team participate in Egypt and continue a cordial working relation with FIBA Africa.

"I believe in work, action and accountability". said Otula who promised that he will work tirelessly to make sure that potential sponsors are brought on board to make work easier and to help promote the game to greater heights.

Outoging chairman Aghina Wesonga who did notsee re election in his partng shots admitted that they d8id not do so well aas a unit advised "Ifyou do not wok aa s a unit and account for all mony you get, the you are dead."
