Flamengo mantains unbeaten record after day two of Group D

MONTEVIDEO (DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018) - Flamengo of Brazil took over the leadership of Group D, after remaining unbeaten following the second day of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana 2018 Group D.

The Brazilian squad summed a total of 19 three-pointers to prevail by 93-81 against the host Club Atlético Goes (0-2).

Marquinhos commanded the Flamengo offense with 26 points, while Deryk Ramos contributed 12 points and seven assists.

Flamengo started the game with a 14-1 run and from there set the rhythm of the game. Goes did not fade and even managed to recover several times, showing a good collective performance, but Flamengo was able to maintain control with baskets at opportune moments that stopped the onslaught of the opponents.

In the final minute, the host had one last reaction and approached by eight points (89-81); nevertheless, a three-pointer by David Nesbitt with 33 seconds opened the gap to 11 (92-81) and sealed the game.

In the first game of the day, Nicolás Copello scored four free throws in the final moments of the game and Libertad Sunchales (Argentina) defeated Welcome (Uruguay) 81-77. Both teams now have a 1-1 record for the second spot of the standings.

Khalil Kelley was the best for Libertad with 18 points and seven rebounds. Ernesto Zago added 14 points. For Welcome, Waddell scored 19 with 12 boards, Valera 17 points, Claudio Charquero 15 points and Frye another 15 points.

All the team will reach the least day of the preliminary groups with qualifying options. This Wednesday the action will feature Flamengo vs Welcome and Goes vs Libertad.
