Estudiantes Concordia secured its qualification to the next round of the DIRECTV Liga Sudamericana following a 66-56 win over Malvin de Montevideo. Estudiantes jumped to a comfortable lead following a 25-13 quarter, but Malvin never stopped fighting and closed the gap. Led offensively by Mendoza and Doblas, the argentine team kept a safe distance and secured the qualification.

Guaros de Lara ended the preliminary group with the top position after defeating the host Universo/Vitoria 62-89, for a 3-0 performance in the preliminary phase. The Venezuelan club dominated from the get-go, and escaped to a 20-point lead early on the game. Universo/Vitoria tried to respond, but Guaros offensive power didn’t allow a comeback.
