San Lorenzo will face the NCAA powerhouse University of Kentucky, one of the most successful Division I basketball programs with 8 national championships, on August 9 in the Atlantis Imperial Arena in Atlantis on Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

The Argentinean club will represent the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas after winning the continental competition in dominating fashion with an undefeated 8-0 run in a 2018 edition that culminated with an emotional 79-71 victory over Brazilian club Mogi das Cruzes in the final played in Buenos Aires.

“The FIBA Americas family is proud to accept the invitation to feature our club competition champion San Lorenzo de Almagro in a very special event to take place in Atlantis on Paradise Island in Bahamas. It is an exhibition game of historic proportions for such a traditional club like San Lorenzo, founded in 1908, with great sporting achievements and a passionate following back home in Argentina to face the renowned University of Kentucky from USA. It represents another step forward in FIBA’s mission to grow and develop our sport throughout the continent.”, said FIBA Americas President Usie Richards.
