MUNICH (Germany) - 22 teams will be competing in the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifiers for at least seven spots in the 2023-24 FIBA Europe Cup Regular Season.

Here is everything you need to know about the seven Qualifying Tournaments.

Who is competing?

The 22 teams competing in the Qualifying Tournaments come from 19 different countries with Cyprus (Keravnos BC, Anorthosis Famagusta), North Macedonia (Rabotnicki Skopje, Feniks 2010) and Sweden (Boras Basket, Jamtland Basket) having two clubs in the competition.

Qualifying Tournament E (Nicosia, Cyprus):

When are they happening?

The seven Qualifying Tournaments will be taking place in seven countries from October 2-5. One group will have four teams and all the others consist of three teams with the clubs playing round robin style action.

Who can qualify?

The seven tournament winners will book their tickets to the Regular Season, which will feature 40 teams split up in 10 groups of four clubs. They will be joined by a maximum of 20 teams that have opted in from the Basketball Champions league Qualifiers.

Some extra spots in the FIBA Europe Cup field may open up if clubs that have opted in from the BCL Qualification Rounds advance to the BCL Regular Season. Any extra spots would be filled by the best ranked second-placed clubs from the FIBA Europe Cup Qualifying Tournaments.

Have teams from the Qualifiers had success?

Playing in the Qualifiers does not mean clubs cannot go deep into the FIBA Europe Cup. In fact, just the opposite is the case. In three of the four seasons in which there were qualifying rounds, teams reached the knockout stage.

In 2018-19, Banco de Sardegna Sassari were one of five teams from the Qualifiers to advance to the Round of 16 and the Italians even went on to capture the title.

U-BT Cluj-Napoca and Pinar Karsiyaka reached the Quarter-Finals in 2019-20 with the Turks moving to the Semi-Finals before the rest of the season was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.

And last season, Cholet Basket reached the Final after beating BC Kalev/Cramo in the Semi-Finals - both teams having started from the Qualifiers.
