Mixed results for Dutch sides: Heroes Den Bosch double win tally, Groningen fall to Bayreuth

MUNICH (Germany) - It was a mixed night for teams from the Netherlands as Heroes Den Bosch picked up their second win, while Donar Groningen fell to a second defeat in Tuesday's action in the EuroChallenge Regular Season.

Heroes Den Bosch moved to 2-0 in Group C with an 87-82 victory over debutants Opava with medi Bayreuth also maintaining their winning start to stay top of Group A following their 71-64 triumph in Groningen.

Austin Price and Clay Mounce - who also had 4 blocks - combined for 42 points at Maaspoort Den Bosch as the hosts pulled clear of Opava with a 13-3 opening to the final quarter.

There was a second successive double-double from Mattias Markusson with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but his side have work to do to overturn their 0-2 start to the Regular Season.

Meanwhile, medi Bayreuth jumped out to a 22-12 start after 10 minutes to set the tone in their encounter with Groningen on the road. The home side did battle back and closed to within six at the start of the fourth, but the raised hopes of the fans were soon dashed.

Martynas Sajus led the way for the visitors with a 22-point haul on 8-of-10 shooting to go alongside 10 rebounds for a double-double, while Marcus Thornton carried over his form from Gameday 1 with 16 points in support in the win.

Henry Caruso led the Groningen fightback with 20 points and 10 rebounds as they drop to 0-2 ahead of an important trip to Austria to face Kapfenberg Bulls next week.

The Gameday 2 action continues on Wednesday with 28 teams involved in an action-packed 14-game slate.
