MUNICH (Germany) - All four pairings of the 2021-22 FIBA Europe Cup Quarter-Finals were finalized on Friday, upon the conclusion of Second Round action.
In the final game of that stage, the rescheduled Gameday 5 fixture between CSM CSU Oradea and Sporting CP, the Romanian club earned a 72-55 victory at home to clinch first place in Group K, with the Portuguese side sliding to second spot in the standings.
The Quarter-Finals field could not be more demonstrative of the wide reach of the FIBA Europe Cup across the continent, as the eight teams that remain in the race represent eight different nations and are based in cities spread from Lisbon to Saratov.
Legia Warszawa, of Poland, were the team that punched the last remaining ticket, last Tuesday, by virtue of upsetting Parma-Parimatch 78-67 on the road to take second place in Group I.
The eight Quarter-Finalists (in alphabetical order) are Avtodor Saratov (RUS), Bahcesehir College (TUR), CSM CSU Oradea (ROM), HAKRO Merlins Crailsheim (GER), Legia Warszawa (POL), Sporting CP (POR), Unahotels Reggio Emilia (ITA) and ZZ Leiden (NED).
The four pairings are as follows:
The Quarter-Finals will be played over two legs, in home-and-away games. The first-leg encounters, at the home venue of the teams that finished second in their respective Second Round group, are scheduled to tip off on Wednesday, March 9.
The return-leg games, hosted by the Second Round group winners, are set to take place a week later, on Wednesday, March 16.
