Bahcesehir and Reggio Emilia to contend for FIBA Europe Cup crown

MUNICH (Germany) - Bahcesehir College and Unahotels Reggio Emilia will face off in the two-legged Final of the 2022 edition of the FIBA Europe Cup.

MUNICH (Germany) - Bahcesehir College and Unahotels Reggio Emilia will face off in the two-legged Final of the 2022 edition of the FIBA Europe Cup after emerging victorious from their respective Semi-Final ties on Wednesday.

Turkey's Bahcesehir clinched a second victory over ZZ Leiden, this time 90-82 at home, to secure a 167-153 aggregate win against the Dutch team. The Istanbul side will go into the Final riding a seven-game winning streak in the competition.

Reggio Emilia meanwhile overturned a 2-point deficit from the first leg of their Semi-Final clash with Bakken Bears in convincing fashion. The Italian team prevailed 92-72 over the Danish side at home, to win 164-146 on aggregate.

This is the first time that either of these two clubs reaches the Final of the competition.

Bahcesehir are a recently founded club and their deepest-ever European run saw them reach the last four of the FIBA Europe Cup in the 2019-20 season, which was curtailed due to the pandemic.

Reggio Emilia on the other hand have experienced the conquest of European silverware, as they lifted the EuroChallenge trophy in 2013-14.

The first leg of the Final is scheduled to tip off in Bologna on April 20 with the return leg taking place in Istanbul on April 27, when the 2022 FIBA Europe Cup champion will be proclaimed.
