New Year's Resolutions: Skyler Bowlin, s.Oliver Wurzburg
WURZBURG (FIBA Europe Cup) - s.Oliver Wurzburg playmaker Skyler Bowlin is one of the FIBA Europe Cup standouts participating in our annual New Year's Resolutions series.
One of the top assisters in the FIBA Europe Cup, the 29-year-old is averaging 7.5 points and 7.3 assists in what has been a stellar campaign for the German club, who have accumulated a 6-2 record in the 2018 portion of the season.
We asked Skyler to reflect on the past year and share his expectations for the upcoming 2019.
If you had to single out three personal important moments/experiences of 2018, which three would you choose?
2018 has been good to me. The biggest thing that happened was that last year on New Year's I got engaged. Another big thing was me signing my contract with Wurzburg. It's a big step in my career to play for a team with the ambitions that this club has. The third biggest thing is tough, but I really cherish the couple months I get to spend with my family in the summer, so I will cheat and say my time back home with family and friends is always a great experience.
What will be your New Year's resolutions? Do you plan on making binding decisions for your life in 2019?
I have never been a big New Year's resolution guy. I always have a couple small things I tell myself I want to do, but I am happy with how life is going so I don't plan on making any big resolutions.

How do you plan to spend New Year's Eve and New Year's Day? Is there a typical celebration, food, tradition that you have for that day and will you be following it?
We actually haven't made any plans for New Year's yet. It's always difficult to plan ahead of time with it being right in the middle of the season. I am sure that me and my fiancé will get together with my teammates and their families somewhere in the city and enjoy the night. Back home in Arkansas, on New Year's Day all of my family would get together and have a huge dinner and just hang out all day and watch football or basketball.
If you were told that you get to fulfill one big dream or one big wish of yours in 2019, what would you choose?
That's a tough one. On the basketball side of things, making the playoffs and doing well once we got there would be a huge accomplishment for us.
