Bakken Bears guard Carberry headlines Top Performers
MUNICH (FIBA Europe Cup) – The undefeated Bakken Bears campaign in the FIBA Europe Cup continued with Tobin Carberry pacing the Danish champions past Z Mobile Prishtina and earning the Top Performer honors.
The 27-year-old guard connected on 10-of-13 field goal attempts for a season-high 26 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists, as the Aarhus side ran away with a 108-84 win over their Kosovan rivals for their third consecutive victory in Group E.
Having hit the century mark in each of the three games, Bakken Bears had their highest scoring game yet against the previously undefeated Z Mobile Prishtina. It was also the best game for Carberry, who finished with an efficiency ranking of 34.
Avtodor Saratov forward Tre McLean fueled the Russian side's come-from-behind 97-93 win against New Heroes Den Bosch in Group D for the second-best mark of the week behind Carberry.
The forward caught fire from deep, going 6-of-11 from three-point range, and matched the competition season-best in scoring with 31 points and 9 rebounds next to his name on the boxscore.
On the opposite side of the barricades, Den Bosch point guard Keshun Sherrill also had an impressive performance of 26 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists, but couldn't prevent the Dutch side from giving up a double-digit advantage.
It was all smiles for the two other players on the Team of the Week – Chris Cokley of Cherkaski Mavpy and Kristopher Richard of CSM CSU Oradea, both of whom helped their clubs get on the board in the Regular Season.
Cokley registered a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, as Mavpy blew out the visiting Steaua Bucuresti 90-64 in Ukraine, while Richard not only had 26 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists in an 86-84 contest against Sakarya BSB, but also made the game-winning basket at the end of regulation.
