Quarter-Final tickets stamped in Matosinhos

MATOSINHOS (FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2016) - The quarter-finalists of the FIBA U20 Women's European Championship 2016 have been confirmed after an exciting Day 4 in Matosinhos.

While there were no major shocks, Italy only just rode their way to a 76-69 success against Bosnia and Herzegovina who had actually led heading into the last few minutes. However, Ceciila Zandalasini and Francesca Pan combined for 38 points to help Italy avoid a major upset.

Spain also posted a late surge with a blistering 30-13 final period to facilitate a 79-53 triumph against the still winless Sweden, as Nogaye Lo Sylla went 6-of-7 from the floor for 18 points.

Russia confirmed their status as favourites with an 81-70 win against Netherlands. Daria Kolosovskaia was immense with 23 points and her Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje club team-mate Raisa Musina was also brilliant - posting 22 points and 15 rebounds.

Poland were always on top in the derby game against Germany and eased their way to a convincing 63-47 victory, while France had to overturn a double-digit gap to eventually get past Turkey. Lisa Berkani scored 26 points in a 66-61 victory.

There was disappointment for another big local crowd as Serbia shot down Portugal 63-52, meaning the main task for the hosts is to now keep their precious place in Division A.
