Slovenia star Sivka claims MVP award in Konya
Konya (Turkey) - Ajsa Sivka has been recognized for leading Slovenia to a historic first FIBA U18 Women's European Championship title success by being crowned MVP of the competition.
Konya (Turkey) - Ajsa Sivka has been recognized for leading Slovenia to a historic first FIBA U18 Women's European Championship title success by being crowned MVP of the competition.
Having played at the FIBA Women's EuroBasket 2023 in the lead up to the action in Konya, she always looked destined to have a big say and so it proved. Sivka enjoyed a majestic tournament and produced an average performance efficiency valuation of 22.0 after dropping 15.9 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.4 steals per outing.
The forward was joined in the All-Star Five lineup by her Slovenia colleague Lea Bartelme who showed her super smart guard play from the first game until the last. Bartelme averaged a tournament leading 7.0 assists along with 13.5 points, 5.5 boards and 2.8 steals per game.
Meanwhile, Marine Dursus of France caught the eye in her team's run to the second step of the podium and was handed an All-Star Five place having averaged an all-action 13.0 points, 3.0 assists, 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 steals.
Spain made up for going off the tracks in the Semi-Finals to take bronze and there was added consolation for guard Iyana Martin. She made the lineup with an average of 14.3 points and 5.3 assists to show both her scoring and creative side and perhaps most impressively she led the tournament in steals with 3.3 per game.
There was also a spot for Serbia's scoring machine Marija Avlijas who was continually the main weapon in their armory in their run to the Semi-Finals. The guard averaged 20.6 points per game - the second highest of the competition and also handed out 4.6 assists as well as grabbing 4.4 boards.
