Etute takes MVP honors to lead All-Star Five in Sofia

SOFIA (Bulgaria) - Faith Ehi Etute has been rewarded for one of the most breathtaking tournament displays in history by being named the MVP of the FIBA U18 Women's European Championship Division B.

She may have missed out on the title itself, but was handed the crown after a truly extraordinary average performance efficiency valuation of 43.8 which was the main driving force of her country taking a maiden medal and attaining their highest ever finish.

That came having recorded a double-double of 31.5 points and 23.3 rebounds per outing, as well as averaging 6.2 steals and 4.3 assists.

Etute is joined in the All-Star Five lineup by her teammate Isa Hamalainen, whose own stellar displays may have been overshadowed by the brilliance of Etute at times, but she is now deservedly getting the recognition. She averaged an excellent 18.8 points, 5.7 boards, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals.

Croatia had a strong team effort  behind their run to the top step of the podium and promotion, but forward Petra Bozan who was a definite rock for her team. She takes a deserved All-Star Five place with 12.4 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.

Greece landed bronze as they beat Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Third Place Game. It has been Panagiota Stoligka who provided the foundations for their success with her competitiveness and intensity. The guard finished with 11.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

There was also a place for Bosnia and Herzegovina leader Jana Guska who showed her longer-term potential with a tournament double-double of 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, while also handing out an average of 4.0 assists.
