IZMIR (Turkey) - The opening day of the FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2023 saw hosts Turkey go down to Hungary, while Poland defeated Croatia with a game-winner in the final seconds.

Hungary's Kinga Josepovits also had an efficiency of 25 after posting a 17-point, 13-rebound double-double along with 2 blocks in a win against hosts Turkey and she also shot 5-of-9 from the field and made seven free throws.
Poland took down Croatia on a game-winning shot and Klaudia Keller was a key part in that win, as she finished with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds in addition to 3 blocks and 2 steals for an efficiency rating of 24.
Rounding out the opening day's top performers is another Croatian as Olivia Vukosa recorded a big double-double of 16 points and 16 rebounds plus 3 steals and 2 blocks for an efficiency of 24.
