    Andorra end Kosovo's run, Georgia see off Malta in the Semi-Finals

    ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2016 Division C) - Georgia and Andorra will fight for gold, while Malta and Kosovo have to settle for the third place game on Saturday.

    ANDORRA LA VELLA (FIBA U16 Women's European Championship 2016 Division C) - Georgia and Andorra will fight for gold, while Malta and Kosovo have to settle for the third-place game on Saturday.

    Georgia maintained their perfect record at the Championship. The team was well rested, following their two days off and showed no signs of rust, as they defeated Malta 67-47 in the Semi-Final.

    Malta trailed from start to finish, and could not capitalise on 30 turnovers by Georgia, as they had 26 turnovers themselves. Georgia got 25 offensive rebounds and won the points in the paint category 36-12.

    Gvantsa Bochorishvili led the winners with 14 points and 15 rebounds. Natalia Otkhmezuri finished with 14 and 3 steals, Viktoria Gegeshidze had 13 and 9 rebounds, whilst Anano Brekashvili was also in double digits with 10 points. Kristy Galea had 11 points for Malta.

    Kosovo were the Group A winners, but Andorra was not about to be overwhelmed by on Friday. After a tight first quarter, the hosts stepped up on defence, holding Kosovo to 21 points in the final 30 minutes for a 59-32 win in the Semi-Final.

    Andorra had 27 steals and 23 points from Kosovo's 43 turnovers. They also won the battle on the glass, as they collected a crucial 16 offensive rebounds, and allowed Kosovo only 7 in that same category.

    Julia Marquez Tomas finished with 14 points, Silvia Badaji Obiols had 10, and Lies Bosma Cortes gathered 7 points, 12 rebounds, 6 steals, 3 assists and 2 blocks for Andorra. Besjana Martinaj's 16 points were not enough for Kosovo.
