LUCCA DELIVER BLOW TO RIVALS
Schio were finally beaten on Sunday as they lost 61-53 at title rivals Gesam Gas Lucca. Francesca Dotto did the damage with 19 points and the result suited Reyer Venezia, as there's now a three-way tie at the top of the classification.
The Venetian club took advantage by breezing their way past Fila San Martino 74-37, thanks mainly to 17 points from Silvia Favento. There was a similarly convincing effort from Passalacqua Ragusa, who jumped above Saces Dike Napoli after four players recorded double-figure scoring returns in a 72-55 triumph.
KOVACIK ENDS POLKOWICE SLUMP
The introduction of Maros Kovacik at the helm of CCC Polkowice had an instant impact after he arrested their worrying slump in the Polish League by masterminding an 86-72 triumph at TS Ostrovia Ostrow Wielkopolski.
Five players reached double-digits, including Ewelina Gala who went six-of-seven from the floor, with Valeriya Musina handing out nine assists.
Wisla Can-Pack are still top of the standings after 23 points from Meighan Simmons inspired an 83-66 victory against Gorzow in Krakow.
DOS SANTOS ERUPTS FOR BOURGES
Brazilian forward Clarissa Dos Santos had her biggest game to date to keep Tango Bourges in pole position in France as she poured in 33 points against Nantes Reze. She also pulled down 12 rebounds for a double-double in the 83-72 success at Le Prado.
ESBVA-LM impressed as they overturned short-handed Basket Landes 84-51 as Valeriane Ayayi scored 18 points, while BLMA came on top 78-72 in a hard-fought win against Flammes Carolo Basket who were without the injured Amel Bouderra.
Cavigal Nice continued their good recent form with a 66-56 win against Lyon as Romy Bar fired 21 points and Victoria Macaulay completed a double-double of 15 points and 13 boards.
YAKIN DOGU UNIVERSITSI TAKE A TUMBLE
Currently perfect in the EuroCup Women Regular Season, there was a rare setback for Yakin Dogu Universitsi in the Turkish League as they went down 66-57 at bottom-placed Girne Universitesi.
The home side were powered by 16 points and 11 rebounds from Marica Gajic, while Merve Aydin played 36 minutes against the team she only left last week.
Fenerbahce remained flawless with a comfortable 86-58 win against Adana Aski as Allie Quigley netted 17 points and Galatasaray returned to winning ways in a tight 76-70 triumph in a derby match-up with Istanbul Universitesi.
Hatay BSB must be tired of losing close games this season and they can add yet another to the list as they fell to 1-5 after being pipped 74-73 at home to Bellona Agu. That was despite a phenomenal 30-point and 20-rebound double-double from Courtney Paris.
Meanwhile Gintare Petronyte conjured up 16 points and 15 points for Mersin, but their disappointment continued as they were taken down 68-57 at Botas. There was no joy for Samsun either, who were sunk 80-56 at MBK Dogus Hastanesi.
GO-TIME FOR UNI GYOR
They may be struggling in EuroLeague Women but CMB Cargo Uni Gyor are flying in the Hungarian League and made a big statement of intent as they smashed their way past VBW CEKK Cegled 89-69. Zsofia Simon starred with 21 points and Cyesha Goree corralled 16 points and 11 rebounds.
PEAC-Pecs collected a nice 59-54 road win at fellow EuroCup Women side Aluinvent Miskolc as Zsofia Licskai dropped 16 points and grabbed eight boards. However, city rivals PINKK Pecsi 424 continue to struggle as they crashed 72-52 at Atomeromu. Meanwhile Aleksandra Crvendakic had 15 points and the same number of rebounds as Uniqa Sopron strolled past ZTE 72-52.
NADEZHDA GO DOWN TO UMMC
UMMC Ekaterinburg shut down Nadezhda 67-53 in Orenburg as the reigning champions continued their excellent start to the Russian Premier League season. As well as some effective defence, Diana Taurasi racked up 23 points and her backcourt partner Nika Baric added 13 points.
Sparta&K M.R. Vidnoje suffered a setback as they were comprehensively beaten 77-55 by Kazanochka, while MBA Moscow got their long overdue first win with a 93-56 success against Spartak Noginsk.
ELSEWHERE IN EUROPE
Perfumerias Avenida continue to lead in Spain after beating Lacturale Araski 70-51 as Jelena Milovanovic and Angela Salvadores shared 22 points. Spar Citylift Girona bounced back from their first Liga Femenina loss last week by overturning Bembibre 82-62, as Ify Ibekwe landed 19 points and 11 rebounds.
In Germany, Quenice Davis struck 18 points and dished out five assists for Rutronik Stars Keltern as they beat Herner TC 81-68, while TSV 1880 Wasserburg had too much for Chemcats Chemnitz as they won 99-46, with six players posting double digits.
