EuroCup Women: Week 3 social media spotlight and reaction

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - We catch up with those involved in Week 3 of the EuroCup Women Regular Season as well as looking at how it went down on social media.

MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - We catch up with those involved in Week 3 of the EuroCup Women Regular Season as well as looking at how it went down on social media.

One of the main features of the week in addition to the action on the floor proved to be the wildly varying weather across the continent. We started off in the easterly outpost of Novosibirsk where visitors Galatasaray kept their perfect record – as they started cold and then heated up for a 73-58 success.

"We didn't start very well, and Dynamo, for sure, took advantage of it and played really well for the first twenty minutes," stated Galatasaray head coach, Marina Maljkovic.

"Then we corrected our game, and made a difference. Why we didn't play well at the start? Well, it's a long way to go from plus 17 degrees to minus 17. It affected us a little bit, but we also made a lot of mistakes."

There was snow for Samsun too in Riga and it certainly affected them as they crashed 98-62 against the hosts, but at least did a good job in the snow and even took part in the rapidly exploding #mannequinchallenge.

Although they do have some competition from Nantes Reze and we can't share it, but go and check out q_chaney on Instagram and watch a fantastic effort.

On the topic of being impressed, Elfic Fribourg got rolling with their first win of the season as they beat an injury-hit Basket Landes 62-54 which delighted head coach Romain Gaspoz who labelled it as a high tide mark.

He said, "We have to give credit to Landes that they lost another player [Kalis Loyd] at the beginning of the game due to an injury, but they still had the French captain [Celine Dumerc] and the international Canadian player [Miranda Ayim] - and therefore this victory is a value added one for us in Fribourg.

"It is probably the best team I have ever faced during my career," he added.

Rutronik Stars Keltern are loving life in their rookie campaign and collected a superb second consecutive road win by beating former EuroLeague Women side Castors Braine 68-62. Although Maja Vucurovic wasn't impressed with her own game face.

    Winner of the ugliest game face contest 🏆 🤔😭 #gameface #alwaysandforeverweird #EuroCupWomen #belgium #win

Having started with snow, we will finish with sun, sand and regretfully for VBW CEKK Cegled - a first loss as they went down 63-59 at main Group A rivals, Maccabi Bnot Ashdod.

"Congratulations to Maccabi as it was a hard game and I think it was equal right until the end," mused Dora Medgyessy, who had a sensational 10 assists in defeat.

"Of course we felt the home advantage Ashdod had, but I'm proud of my team as they played at their best until the very last second. This is our first year in EuroCup Women and we're proud of how we are doing."

Finally, there were smiles in the big Swedish derby game.

Umea Udominate visited their rivals up the coast and came back with their first win as they used a blistering start to claim a 73-67 victory at Lulea BBK.
