Week 8 Top Performers: Williams, Meesseman, Hristova, Fraser, Burton

MUNICH (Germany) - There were a number of standout performances that lit up EuroLeague Women during Gameday 8 action and it means an intense battle in the fight to be handed the Player of the Week accolade.

Having received 57 percent of the votes, Veronica Burton of Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin won the fan vote, with Borislava Hristova of ACS Sepsi-SIC coming in second with 25 percent.

Elizabeth Williams did all she could to try and propel Cukurova Basketbol Mersin to victory in Salamanca, but despite having the highest performance efficiency valuation of the week at 27, her team were still outlasted 67-56. by Perfumerias Avenida. The center was on top form and contributed 15 points, 11 rebounds, 4 steals and 3 blocks.

Meanwhile Emma Meesseman continues to roll strong and having landed November's MVP award, she has started December on fire as well. The forward racked up 25 points, 5 assists and 3 rebounds as Fenerbahce Alagoz Holding stormed past Valencia Basket Club 88-64.

It's successive Top Performers spots for Borislava Hristova who scored 28 points and added 4 rebounds and  2 assists for ACS Sepsi-SIC. But this week it was not the joy of a narrow victory, but the anguish of a narrow 69-68 loss to Casademont Zaragoza.

Brianna Fraser was able to celebrate as her headline-making 27 points and 7 rebounds were a big factor in KGHM BC Polkowice moving past Virtus Segafredo Bologna 81-78 in a gripping matchup.

Finally, Veronica Burton stepped out in the competition for the first time with Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin and put in a sparkling debut. She amassed a near triple-double of 18 points, 9 assists and 7 boards, although it was not enough to edge out Beretta Famila Schio who won 70-67.
