MUNICH (Germany) - The third week of EuroLeague Women action witnessed Fenerbahce Alagoz Holding star Kayla McBride continue her hot-streak, as did in-form center duo Kristine Anigwe and Ezi Magbegor who are among the Top Performers once again too.
But it was Leonie Fiebich of Casademont Zaragoza who earned the Player of the Week honors after collecting 68 percent of the tally in the fan voting.
Kayla McBride was again instrumental in Fenerbahce getting a victory, although they had to truly earn it, dodging a bullet to come out on top 74-71 at Casademont Zaragoza. The guard was the main architect of the holders digging out a victory after she contributed 26 points, 4 assists and 3 steals, which combined to hand her the joint-highest performance efficiency valuation of the week at 29.
It was certainly agonizing for Casademont Zaragoza as they came so close to causing a huge upset in just their third ever game in the competition. Driven mainly by Leonie Fiebich, they just fell short even though the German standout came up with a terrific 16 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists.
Kristine Anigwe has put in some massive displays so far this season with Serco UNI Gyor and even if they are still searching for a first victory, it can not overshadow her stellar efforts. She emerged with 27 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists for a performance efficiency valuation of 29 in an 83-64 home loss to ZVVZ USK Praha.
The visitors were led once again by Ezi Magbegor who accumulated a performance efficiency valuation of 28 after she torched Gyor with 21 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Meanwhile there was cause for double celebration for Elin Gustavsson as she matched the week-high performance efficiency valuation of Kayla McBride and Kristine Anigwe of 29 with a brilliant effort for Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin. Not only did she put up 17 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists, the 76-65 victory against ACS Sepsi-SIC was their first ever win in the competition.
