Permutations: Which teams can still qualify for the Quarter-Finals?

MUNICH (Germany) - The 2021-22 edition of EuroLeague Women is reaching the business end of the Regular Season as the battle heats up to make it through to the Play-Offs.

MUNICH (Germany) - Even with a handful of re-arranged fixtures remaining, the 2021-22 edition of EuroLeague Women is reaching the business end of the Regular Season as the battle heats up to make it through to the Play-Offs.

The top four teams from each group will advance to the Quarter-Finals, while the teams that finish in fifth and sixth spots will continue their European campaigns in the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals.

Here's a look through the two groups with an update on the 16 participating teams:

    Group A

      GAMES GAME POINTS POINTS
    # Team P W L % For Agt +/- FA AA
    1  UMMC Ekaterinburg 12 12 0 100 1025 812 213 85.4 67.7 24
    2  Perfumerias Avenida 12 10 2 83.3 985 820 165 82.1 68.3 22
    3  ZVVZ USK Praha 12 8 4 66.7 1002 761 241 83.5 63.4 20
    4  BLMA 11 6 5 54.5 764 828 -64 69.5 75.3 17
    5  TTT Riga 12 5 7 41.7 692 831 -139 57.7 69.2 17

    8  KSC Szekszard 13 0 13 0 787 1032 -245 60.5 79.4 13

    Qualified

    UMMC Ekaterinburg [/unordered]

The three-time defending champions are already assured their place in the Quarter-Finals with a perfect 12-0 record with two games to play. They can secure top spot in the group in their next encounter with either a victory or a loss by seven points or less against Perfumerias Avenida.

    Perfumerias Avenida [/unordered]

10 wins from 12 for last season's runners-up with Avenida has seen them lock up another trip to the post-season. While they could still top the group if they claim the head-to-head over UMMC Ekaterinburg, they are still a result away from being guaranteed a top-two finish.

    ZVVZ USK Praha [/unordered]

ZVVZ USK Praha hold the head-to-head over Perfumerias Avenida and could still pip the Spanish side to second spot. However, more importantly, they have already assured a place in the Quarter-Finals with their current 8-4 record with two to play.

    In contention

    BLMA [/unordered]

Very close to being over the line. BLMA control their own fate with just a single win needed from their final three games, though their place in the Quarter-Finals could also be sealed without having to add to the win column with the three chasing teams in more urgent need of victories.

    TTT Riga [/unordered]

TTT Riga need to better the final record of BLMA if they are to edge their way into the top four as they do not hold the head-to-head tie-break between the two sides. Riga must win both games and hope that BLMA fail to win any of their remaining three games. Any tie for fourth spot would see them miss out, while one win would guarantee at least a EuroCup Women place.

    MBA Moscow [/unordered]

MBA Moscow still harbour hopes of a top-four finish, but the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals may be the more realistic battle. They play Umana Reyer - who currently have the same 3-8 record - and BLMA along with a road game against the unbeaten group leaders. Even three wins would require other results to go their way in the race for the top four.

    Umana Reyer [/unordered]

Umana Reyer still harbour hopes of a top-four finish, but the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals may be the more realistic battle. They play MBA Moscow - who currently have the same 3-8 record - and BLMA as well as hosting ZVVZ USK Praha. Even three wins would require other results to go their way in the race for the top four.

    Eliminated

    KSC Szekszard [/unordered]

Still without a win from 13 games, KSC Szekszard are resigned to finishing bottom of Group A after a disappointing campaign. They round out their European season with a visit to TTT Riga so they could yet impact the qualification battle.

    Group B

      GAMES GAME POINTS POINTS
    # Team P W L % For Agt +/- FA AA
    1  Fenerbahce Safiport 12 9 3 75.0 963 770 193 80.2 64.2 21
    2  Sopron Basket 13 8 5 61.5 883 836 47 67.9 64.3 21
    3  Dynamo Kursk 13 8 5 61.5 981 958 23 75.5 73.7 21
    4  Beretta Famila Schio 12 7 5 58.3 866 817 49 72.2 68.1 19
    5  Galatasaray 13 5 8 38.5 901 958 -57 69.3 73.7 18
    6  Spar Girona 12 6 6 50.0 824 834 -10 68.7 69.5 18
    7  Basket Landes 12 5 7 41.7 827 928 -101 68.9 77.3 17
    8  VBW Arka Gdynia 13 2 11 15.4 870 1014 -144 66.9 78 15

    Qualified

    Fenerbahce Safiport [/unordered]

Fenerbahce sit at the top of the pile with a 9-3 record with their place in the Quarter-Finals already assured. They still have a trip to Russia to take on Dynamo Kursk and a win would wrap up first place in Group A.

    Dynamo Kursk [/unordered]

The Russian side currently sit in third spot in the group, but cannot finish outside of the top four. They crucially hold a 2-0 head-to-head record over Spar Girona and would finish above them in all possible scenarios involving three and four-way ties.

    In contention

    Sopron Basket [/unordered]

Not quite there just yet for Sopron, but they are in a strong position to advance. The only way they could miss out is if they end up in a direct tie for fourth place with Spar Girona with no other teams involved.

    Beretta Famila Schio [/unordered]

Schio currently hold the all-important fourth spot in the race to the Quarter-Finals, but will be looking over their shoulder with caution. One win would be enough if Spar Girona lose one of their two remaining games, but they would miss out if the two teams finished level in a two-way tie or a three-way tie along with Dynamo Kursk.

    Spar Girona [/unordered]

There is still hope of making it into the top four, but they need to at least catch up with Schio. They hold the head-to-head record over the Italian side and also with Sopron Basket, meaning that if those two sides both finished at 8-6, Girona would also get the better of their opponents. There are also possible three-way tie scenarios that go both in their favour and against them.

    Eliminated

    Galatasaray [/unordered]

Galatasaray will not be joining their compatriots, Fenerbahce, in the Quarter-Finals as back-to-back defeats ended their hopes. However, they can still make it to the last eight of EuroCup Women if they finish in the top six. They hold the head-to-head record over Basket Landes and Spar Girona, though they would need to win their last game to catch up with the Spanish outfit.

    Basket Landes [/unordered]

Another team already out of contention as they also aim to continue their European season in the EuroCup Women Quarter-Finals. They need at least one win from their final two games as they have an inferior head-to-head record with Galatasaray. One win may be enough if they beat Spar Girona with a possible three-way tie with both teams alongside Galatasaray, but it's not a guarantee.

    VBW Arka Gdynia [/unordered]

Not to be with just two wins from their 13 games, so far. Gdynia's victories both came at home with the last coming in December against Galatasaray. They are completely out of contention with a bottom-placed finish already confirmed.
