Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo finish with a flourish in Third Place Game

ISTANBUL (Turkey) - Fenerbahce Oznur Kablo finished their EuroLeague Women campaign on a winning note after they took down Sopron Basket 64-58 in the Third Place Game.

As both teams tried to pick themselves up from their respective Semi-Final disappointments, it was Fenerbahce that recovered, doing what they needed to do by locking down Sopron during the last 10 minutes of the game.

Turning point:
Having almost allowed an 18-point advantage to evaporate as Sopron came roaring back to get with one point by the end of the third period, Fenerbahce needed a strong start to the last quarter. They duly deliverd with an 8-0 run and that set them on the path to wrapping up the victory.

Game heroes: Kayla McBride led the way for Fenerbahce with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds, while Tina Krajisink did her best to inspire Sopron with a huge 17 points and 17 rebounds.

Stats don't lie: It proved to be a grind shooting-wise for Sopron Basket who barely broke 30 percent from the field, not helped by going 3 of 16 from doowntown.

Bottom line: It was always going to be difficult for Sopron Basket to register a victory without their leader in Gabby Williams who missed the contest. However, they leave Final Four with their heads held high after a season that probably surpassed expectations. Fenerbahce will be thinking about the missed opportunity they had for an upset in the Semi-Finals against UMMC, but considering they had missed the Final Four since 2017, it was a welcome return and important they departed on a high.
