Roundup: Titles for Avenida, Sepsi and Lulea


MUNICH (EuroLeague/EuroCup Women) – The silverware continues to flow around Europe, with celebrations underway for Perfumerias Avenida, ACS Sepsi and Lulea Basket who all won their respective domestic championship titles.

Smiles back in Salamanca as Avenida complete triple


Perfumerias Avenida are champions of Spain again as they won the title on the home court of arch rivals Spar Citylift Girona. After edging a dramatic first game at home 71-70, they were in complete control in the deciding contest. They rode to a comfortable 61-77 triumph with an 18-point and 10-rebound double-double from Erika Souza. It means the Salamanca-based side completed a glorious treble, having already landed the Spanish SuperCup and Spanish Cup.

More silverware for Mikes at head of ACS Sepsi

The rise of ACS Sepsi under Zoran Mikes continued over the weekend as the head coach took his team to yet another Romanian championship success.

 
The EuroCup Women competitors eased past Satu Mare 3-1 in the Finals.


As usual, the club received an incredible reception from its fans, not only at the games themselves, but also on the streets of Sfantu Gheorghe.

Lulea Basket take down great rivals Udominate

The two powerhouses of Swedish basketball went head-to-head as expected in the Finals and it was Lulea Basket who came out on top as they secured the Damligan title with a massive 72-92 win at Udominate.


It cemented a 3-1 series win, with double-doubles from both Adrienne Motley and Jennifer Hampson taking their team to the top of the podium.

UMMC edge close to defending their title

Fresh from winning the 2018 EuroLeague Women title, UMMC Ekaterinburg are just 40 minutes away from defending their Russian Premier League crown after moving 2-0 up on Dynamo Kursk.


Following on from a 74-64 win in their opener, the home side enjoyed more success at the DIVS Arena as they took an 82-69 victory. Maya Moore led the way with 19 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

It's all over for the EuroCup Women champions


EuroCup Women winners Galatasaray have seen the curtain fall on a highly eventful campaign after they suffered a Quarter-Finals series defeat by Yakin Dogu Universitesi in the Turkish Play-Offs. A hard-fought 81-87 home loss in the derby sealed their fate as Jantel Lavender racked up 20 points and 11 rebounds.

Fenerbahce strode into the last four after an even more convincing series win in their derby clash with Besiktas. A 21-point haul from Ayse Cora facilitated a 64-79 road win. The two giants will be joined by Cukurova, who slid past Botas and either Mersin or Hatay, who have went down to a series decider.

Elsewhere in Europe

Italian juggernauts Famila Schio are safely into the Finals after they overcame Napoli 3-1, sealing their progression with a 65-73 road win as Isabelle Yacoubou poured in 28 points. The series between Reyer Venezia and Passalacqua Ragusa is perfectly poised at 2-2.


Tarbes stunned EuroLeague Women side ESBVA-LM in the French Quarter-Finals as Aby Gaye struck a last-gasp basket to give them a thrilling 63-61 win. They will be joined by Bourges Basket and Flammes Carolo Basket - plus either Lyon or Basket Landes in the Semi-Finals.

KSC Szekszard are in serious trouble in their attempt to capture the title from Sopron Basket who lead 2-0. They were beaten 70-55 in the second meeting after 20 points from Sopron guard, Yvonne Turner.

Elsewhere, ZVVZ USK Praha are 2-0 ahead in their ZBL Finals matchup against KP Brno and CCC Polkowice are in the same position against Artego Bydgoszcz in the Polish Finals.
