Historic and dramatic night for Csata; Verameyenka becomes all-time blocks leader

MUNICH (Germany) - It was another landmark night in EuroCup Women and especially for Ludovika-FCSM Csata, who will always remember their first ever Regular Season triumph as it came after an overtime thriller.

The Budapest club wrote a new chapter and made it third time lucky in their quest to take a maiden victory in the competition by outlasting Nika Syktyvkar 82-77 in an absorbing matchup. Janka Hegedus and Reka Lelik were the twin turbos for the Hungarian side, with 23 and 22 points respectively.

Four other teams, received a big confidence lift on Thursday night, even if the wins they collected were not their first-ever in the competition, as they finally got rolling after a 0-2 start to the season. Namur also needed overtime as they beat domestic rivals Kangoeroes Basket Mechelen 70-66. 17 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists from Russian winger Kamilla Ogun was important, as was 13 points and 17 boards from Batabe Zempare.

KKZ Crvena Zvezda celebrated an 80-73 win at Polskieprzetwory Bydgoszcz as Aleksandra Katanic enjoyed a career night in the competition with 19 points, 11 assists, 6 rebounds and 6 steals. There was also a priceless 21 points from Milena Miseljic which helped to underpin the headline contribution from her teammate as they took their first triumph of the campaign.

KP Brno are also up and running as a rapid start against Haukar was the foundation for an 80-61 win. They also benefited from a stellar 23 points and 13 rebounds from center Natalie Kucowski.

Belarus national team legend Anastasiya Verameyenka was uncontainable from a Pszczolka Polski Cukier AZS UMCS Lublin perspective as the forward got Horizont off the mark with a 62-50 victory after racking up 21 points, 10 boards, 4 assists and 4 blocks. Those swats also saw her become the All-TIme Blocks leader in the competition - adding to the same prestigious status she holds in EuroLeague Women.

Elsewhere, an electrifying 31-11 start from Hatayspor caught the visiting Panathinaikos AC off-guard and the home side went on to secure an 87-56 victory. There was an array of excellent displays with Kalani Brown heading the list with 22 points, while Maddalena Gorini and Aaryn Ellenberg-Wiley had 21 and 20 points respectively. Chastity Reed was unfortunate to be on the losing side with a terrific 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

There was also a road loss for another Greek powerhouse in Olympiacos SFP as they were well beaten 88-70 in Orenburg. Local favorites Nadezhda had Nigerian wing Adaora Elonu on form with 14 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists as they maintained their unbeaten start to the campaign.

Tango Bourges Basket hit top gear at Banco Sardegna Sassari as they soared past their rivals 122-61 with Elin Eldebrink offering a stellar 22 points, 10 assists and 5 rebounds.

Less than a week after the glory of their SuperCup Women success against UMMC, there was another win for Valencia BC as they came out on top 66-46 at Duran Maquinaria Ensino. Opals' forward Bec Allen had 14 points and 7 rebounds.
