CBK Mersin Yenisehir Bld too hot to handle for Flammes, complete Round of 8 field

MERSIN (Turkey) - Ambitious CBK Mersin Yenisehir Bld have completed a classy win double against French club Flammes Carolo to advance to the EuroCup Women Round of 8 where they will meet BC Prometey.

The two clubs opted to play back-to-back games on Turkish soil to get the originally postponed tie concluded, and Mersin took full advantage of their home court to rack up a pair of  victories and complete the Round of 8 lineup in the competition.

They took a resounding 79-48 win in the second leg on Thursday night in a big sharp-shooting demonstration that saw the Turkish side shoot 50 percent from downtown. 

The extent of Mersin's ambition has been highlighted by the recent addition of veteran star DeWanna Bonner, who has added even more depth to the roster. The forward was instrumental in her new team finishing the job as she led the way with 18 points and 5 rebounds, while Jasmine Thomas handed out a stellar 11 assists.

Meanwhile in the first leg, on Wednesday, Mersin had prevailed 95-64 after putting up an offensive display so convincing that as many as seven of their players scored in double digits led by Great Britain star Temi Fagbenle who finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists.
