More reason to smile in Lyon as Allemand headlines Team of the Week

MUNICH (Germany) - Lyon ASVEL Feminin have had a remarkable debut season in EuroCup Women and it doesn't stop here, as the French side qualified for the Quarter-Finals after eliminating Tarbes GB in the Round of 8.

Lyon completed the double with a 65-44 win on the road, with Belgium international Julie Allemand stepping up this time around. The 22-year-old guard fired 25 points and added 5 rebounds and 3 assists for an efficiency index of 30 to spearhead the Team of the Week.

There will be another newcomer in the last eight, as Cukurova Basketbol extended their unbeaten run in the competition. The Turkish club made light work of Wisla CANPACK Krakow, following up their 20-point first-leg victory with an 86-78 win at home. Alina Iagupova recorded an all-action 24 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals to join the Top Performer lineup for a second consecutive week.

The week's action saw the most dramatic finish in Girona, as the home side forced overtime to down KSC Szekszard 80-73 and win the tie on a 153-152 aggregate score. Keisha Hampton emerged as the game hero for the home side, draining a late three in regulation to erase the six-point deficit from the first leg. The US forward paced her side with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Her tally was only topped by Erica McCall. The 23-year-old has been one of Szekszard's pillars all season long and bowed out with another impressive performance, falling just short of a double-double with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

The frontcourt is completed by BLMA's Olesia Malashenko. The Ukrainian big was highly efficient in a balanced team effort, as BLMA knocked out reigning champions Galatasaray, winning on the road and finishing the business with a 70-57 success at home. Malashenko ended the game with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the floor as well as 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
