MUNICH (EuroCup Women) - Krystal Thomas leads this week's Top Performers as Mersin surged towards the Round of 8 with the biggest upset of Thursday evening.
The Mersin big was a menace for the undefeated TTT Riga, going 9-of-12 from the field to finish with 24 points, good enough for an efficiency of 34. For good measure, she added 14 rebounds and three blocked shots as Mersin prevailed 88-70.
Joining her on this week's Top Performer's team, is her Mersin teammate Asena Yalcin. The guard was clinical in the fourth quarter, producing back-to-back clutch plays, just as TTT Riga threatened to close the gap. She finished the night with 18 points and 8 assists.
Former Spanish youth standout Astou Ndour produced her best outing of the season for Italian outfit Virtus Eirene, with a 29-point, 10-rebound double-double, despite her team going down 76-72 on the road.
Another Spanish player makes this week's side, in the form of Girona shooting guard Nicole Romeo. Despite also suffering a loss, the 28-year-old could not shoulder too much of the blame, as she produced 22 points, on the back of 6-of-9 three-pointers.
Brazilian Clarissa Dos Santos completes this week's team, as Flammes Carolo Basket authoritatively stamped their mark in the favorites column of the competition with a commanding 83-62 road win at Artego Bydgoszcz, thanks largely to Dos Santos' 21-point, 18-rebound double-double.
