Valanciunas, Sabonis together again as Lithuania name 16 for EuroBasket

VILNIUS (Lithuania) - Lithuania have announced an initial squad of 16 players as they step up their preparations for FIBA EuroBasket 2022 with the inclusion of Jonas Valanciunas and Domantas Sabonis.

The frontcourt duo are set to rekindle their partnership once more for the national team having last suited up together at last year's FIBA Olympic Basketball Qualifying Tournament on home soil in 2020.

Kazys Maksvytis will get his team together later this month as they also commence the Second Round of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers in August with games against Hungary and Montenegro.

Ignas Brazdeikis is included after making a senior debut for Lithuania during the recent Qualifiers window. Marius Grigonis adds experience to the squad having played at the last EuroBasket edition alongside Mindgaugas Kuzminskas, while 21-year-old Rokas Jokubaitis is in contention for a tournament debut.
