ABIDJAN (FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017) – Cote d’ Ivoire are leaving nothing to chance as they enter the last stretch of their preparation for the FIBA Women's AfroBasket 2017 in Mali August 18-27.
Head coach Simon Guillou has cut the preliminary squad to 16 players after the just concluded Francophone Games in Abidjan, where they suffered a 56-46 defeat to Senegal in the Quarter-Finals.
Kani Kouyate, who led the Ivoirians in scoring in Mozambique two years ago, has been introduced in the preliminary squad, which also includes Edwige Djedjemel, Minata Fofana, Blandine N’goran Brou and Amandine Kouakou.
The West Africans, who will be making their first appearance at the continental showpiece since 2013, will face Mali in two friendly games on Friday and Saturday (August 4-5).
