    World Finals Specific Regulations

    eFIBA WORLD FINALS REGULATIONS

    These specific regulations are an annex and complement the official rule book.

    A.1 Disconnects
    • A.1.1 In the event that a Player disconnects during a Game due to a technical fault, hardware failure, server issue, network interruption, or any other circumstance determined by the Head Referees to be outside of the Player’s reasonable control, the Game shall be immediately paused and reviewed by the Head Referees.

    • A.1.2 The affected Team must immediately notify the Head Referees and provide video evidence of the disconnection. Players are required to maintain a recording or clipping via PSN to provide such evidence upon request.

    • A.1.3 Upon confirmation that the disconnection was caused by circumstances outside of the Player’s control, the Game shall be restarted.

    • A.1.4 Any points scored prior to the disconnection shall remain valid and shall carry over to the restarted Game.

    • A.1.5 All fouls accumulated prior to the disconnection shall carry over to the restarted Game, meaning if a player was to accumulate the 6 fouls meaning a “Foul Out” they must immediately leave the game.

    • A.1.6 Prior to the restart, both Teams may mutually agree on the Game clock and quarter in which the restarted Game shall commence, rounding up or down to the nearest full quarter.

    • A.1.7 If the Teams cannot reach an agreement regarding the restart conditions, the Head Referees shall determine the appropriate quarter and Game clock to be used. In making such determination, the Head Referees shall take into account the exact time of the disconnection and shall round the remaining time either up or down where necessary to preserve competitive integrity.

    • A.1.8 The Head Referees shall have full discretion to determine any additional measures required to accurately recreate the Game state that existed prior to the disconnection.The Team entitled to possession at the time of the disconnection shall receive possession upon restart whenever reasonably possible.

    • A.1.9 If the Head Referees determine that a Player intentionally disconnected from the Game, the offending Team shall lose the relevant Game by Forfeit.

    • A.1.10 Any determination regarding intentional disconnections shall be made solely by the Head Referees and shall not be subject to appeal.

    A.2 Lag, Latency and Performance Issues
    • A.2.1 In the event that a Player experiences lag, latency, frame drops, visual delay, input delay, stuttering, or any other performance-related issue during a Game, the Game shall continue without interruption.

    • A.2.2 Players shall not intentionally disconnect, quit the Game, or request a restart solely due to lag or performance-related issues.

    • A.2.3 Lag or latency experienced by one or more Players shall not constitute grounds for a Game restart, replay, or protest.

    • A.2.4 The Head Referees may only authorize a restart where the issue affects the Competition systems as a whole and materially prevents the continuation of the Game.

    A.3 Equipment and Hardware
    • A.3.1 Players may use their own controllers during the eFIBA World Finals.

    • A.3.2 All controllers brought to the World Finals are subject to inspection and approval by the Head Referees at any time during the Competition.

    • A.3.3 Controllers that have been modified, altered, programmed, automated, or otherwise adjusted beyond their intended manufacturer functionality are prohibited.

    • A.3.4 Any controller determined by the Head Referees to provide functionality beyond the controller’s intended design shall be considered an External Device under these Regulations.

    • A.3.5 Players found using prohibited controllers or hardware may be sanctioned in accordance with Section 13 of the Competition Regulations.

    • A.3.6 If a Player's controller becomes damaged, defective, or otherwise unusable during the Competition, eFIBA shall provide a standard replacement controller.

    • A.3.7 Players are responsible for ensuring that their personal controllers remain adequately charged and operational throughout the Competition.

    • A.3.8 eFIBA shall provide official Competition headsets for all Players.

    • A.3.9 Only headsets provided by eFIBA may be used during official Competition play. Personal headsets, earbuds, or other communication devices are not permitted.

    A.4 Competition Format
    • A.4.1 The Group Stage shall consist of groups containing four (4) Teams. All Group Stage Games shall be contested as Best of 1 (BO1) Games. Each Team shall play every other Team within its Group once, resulting in three (3) Group Stage Games per Team.

    • A.4.2 The World Finals Playoffs shall be conducted using a double-elimination bracket consisting of an Upper Bracket and a Lower Bracket.

    • A.4.3 The World Finals Playoffs shall be conducted using the following Match formats:

      • a. Upper Bracket Round 1: Best of 1 Match (BO1);

      • b. Lower Bracket Round 1: Best of 1 Match (BO1);

      • c. Lower Bracket Round 2: Best of 1 Match (BO1);

      • d. Upper Bracket Final: Best of 3 Match (BO3);

      • e. Lower Bracket Final: Best of 3 Match (BO3);

      • f. Grand Final: Best of 5 Match (BO5).

    For the Grand Final, the Team advancing from the Upper Bracket shall receive a one (1) Game advantage and shall therefore begin the Match with a 1-0 lead. Accordingly, the Upper Bracket Team shall require two (2) additional Game wins to win the Grand Final, while the Lower Bracket Team shall require three (3) Game wins to win the Grand Final.

    • A.4.3 Teams shall be awarded two (2) points for each Game won & one (1) point for each Game lost.

    • A.4.4 If two or more Teams are tied on points at the conclusion of the Group Stage, rankings shall be determined using the following criteria, in order:

      • a. Superior Points Difference across all Group Stage Games;

      • b. Highest-scoring individual Game achieved during the Group Stage (excluding overtime periods);

      • c. Highest-scoring individual Quarter achieved during the Group Stage (excluding overtime periods);

      • d. Coin flip conducted by the Head Referees.

    • A.4.5 If at any stage a Team is ranked higher through application of one criterion, no further criteria shall be applied.

    A.5 Dress Code
    • A.5.1 All Players participating in the World Finals shall present themselves in a professional manner that reflects the standards of the Competition.

    • A.5.2 Players shall not wear clothing displaying political messages, political symbols, provocative statements, discriminatory content, or any material deemed inappropriate by the Head Referees.

    • A.5.3 All Teams must present a uniform appearance during Competition play. Players shall wear matching team apparel that clearly identifies their nation. Official national team jerseys are strongly preferred; however, matching team t-shirts displaying the nation name, logo, or national colours shall also be permitted, subject to approval by the Head Referees.

    • A.5.4 Players must wear appropriate footwear at all times within Competition areas.

    • A.5.5 Flip-flops, sandals, slides, or other open-toed footwear are prohibited within the Competition area.

    • A.5.6 The Head Referees may require a Player to change any item of clothing deemed inappropriate, offensive, or inconsistent with the image of the Competition.

    A.6 Awards
    • A.6.1 The following individual awards shall be presented following the conclusion of the World Finals:

      • a. World Finals Most Valuable Player (MVP);

      • b. World Finals Defensive Player of the Year (DPOY);

      • c. World Finals All-Star Team (Five Players).

    • A.6.2 All award recipients shall be determined by an eFIBA-approved Awards Panel.

    • A.6.3 The Awards Panel shall consider statistical performance, competitive impact, sportsmanship, and any other factors deemed relevant by eFIBA.

    • A.6.4 Decisions of the Awards Panel shall be final and not subject to appeal.

    A.7 Prize Distribution
    • A.7.1 Subject to compliance with all Competition Regulations, prize money shall be distributed as follows:

      • a. 1st Place: USD $20,000

      • b. 2nd Place: USD $10,000

      • c. 3rd Place: USD $6,000

      • d. 4th Place: USD $4,000

    • A.7.2 Individual awards shall carry the following prize amounts:

      • a. World Finals MVP: USD $2,500

      • b. World Finals DPOY: USD $2,500

      • c. World Finals All-Star Team: USD $1,000 per selected Player

    • A.7.3 eFIBA reserves the right to withhold, adjust, or redistribute prize money in the event of disciplinary sanctions, eligibility violations, or breaches of the Competition Regulations.

    The provisions contained within this Annex shall apply exclusively to the eFIBA World Finals LAN Event. In the event of any conflict between this Annex and the eFIBA Competition Regulations, the provisions of this Annex shall prevail.
