SINGAPORE (Singapore) - The Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Lakeland Magic had a pair of third-place finishes in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup in 2022 and 2023, but the idea of having a select team from the League proved to be even better in 2024.
The NBA G League United, with well known players such as Keisei Tominaga and Juan Toscano Anderson - a 2022 NBA champion with the Golden State Warriors - went on to reach the Final in Singapore last year.
They had upset the Tasmania JackJumpers in the Semi-Finals, beating the NBL champions by two points, but facing Unicaja in the Final proved to be too tough for the G League side.
The prospect of putting together players from the NBA G League remains intriguing in 2025, too, and the fans in the Singapore Indoor Stadium will surely take down notes because some of the players from this team will find their way to elite competitions all over the world.
Aside from the already mentioned stars of 2024, the NBA G League representative NBA G League Ignite brought current NBA players Ron Holland and Matas Buzelis, along with Izan Almansa, one of the most dominant players in FIBA Youth Events history, to Singapore in 2023.
A unique team in the basketball universe, the NBA G League United will surely earn plenty of fans in September 2025, too.
