How will it work? Let's take a closer look!
First Round
10 national teams have been drawn into one group of four teams and two groups of three teams – and will play in a round-robin format. Each window will consist of two gamedays each.
The groups for the First Round are as follows:
The winner of each group, as well as the best-ranked runner-up – four teams in total – will progress to the Second Round.
To determine the best-ranked runner-up in the First Round, all second-placed teams will be ranked according to the Official Basketball Rules and the results against the fourth placed team in Group A will be disregarded.
Second Round
The Second Round lineup will consist of 12 teams: four teams from the First Round and eight teams from the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027 European Qualifiers - those that finish in fourth place in the First Round.
A draw will be held before the start of the Second Round and the teams will be split into four groups of three teams each, once again playing in a round-robin format across three windows in August 2026, November 2026 and February 2027.
Each window will consist of two gamedays each.
The winner of each group will qualify for the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Qualifiers.
Third Round
The Third Round lineup will consist of 14 teams: the eight teams that did not qualify from the Second Round and the six teams that did not progress from the First Round.
Another draw will be conducted to split the teams into two groups of four teams and two groups of three teams each, once again playing in a round-robin format across one window of six gamedays in July and August, 2027.
The winner of each group will qualify for the FIBA EuroBasket 2029 Qualifiers.
