A draw will take place on May 09, 2025 at 18:30 (GMT +1) at the Hotel HCTA in Luanda (Angola). It will determine which of the participating teams will lift the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 trophy.
Draw Principles
The 16 participating teams will be divided into four pots created to reflect the strength of the continent, based on the current version of the FIBA World Ranking Men, presented by Nike, and the results recorded during the FIBA AfroBasket 2025 qualifying campaign.
The pots were as follows: POT 1: Angola, Tunisia, Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal POT 2: South Sudan, Egypt, Nigeria, Cabo Verde POT 3: Cameroon, Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Mali POT 4: Uganda, Rwanda, Libya, Madagascar
The teams are divided into four groups of four teams each.
The teams in each pot will be distributed among the four groups and assigned a competition number (2, 3 and 4), with the exception of pot 1, which represents the group leaders and will take first place in each of the four groups.
There cannot be more than two teams from the same African zone in the same group.
