Competition System
The competing teams will participate in the qualifying tournament for the Basketball Africa League (Road to BAL) 2026.
The group stages will take place between 15 October and 1st November. The Elite 16 is scheduled for 11 to 16 November 2025 for the Division West and 18 to 23 November 2025 for the Division East.
Qualification System
Group Phase
The 20 registered teams will be divided into five (05) groups of 03 to 06 teams maximum, divided into Division West (Groups A, B, C) and Division East (Groups D, E).
Each team will play a single match against the other teams in its group.
The first and second-placed teams in each group will qualify for the Elite 16. There will be ten (10) qualifiers for the group stages. Three (03) Wild Cards (best 3rd place teams from the group stages) will also qualify.
Below is the composition of the groups:
Elite 16
Scheduled for November 2025, the Elite 16 will consist of two group stages (Groups F & G).
Sixteen (16) teams from the group stage (14) and automatically qualified teams (2) will participate in the Elite 16.
The two (2) automatically qualified teams are:
Krio Star (CPV)
Nairobi City Thunder (KEN)
The top two (2) teams from each Division, i.e. four (4) teams, will qualify for the BAL final phase. These teams will join the eight (8) other automatically qualified teams (Nigeria, Tunisia, Angola, Senegal, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco and Rwanda).
