    Puerto Rico and the host dominate on opening day

    HERMOSILLO (FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019) – The Centrobasket U15 Championship 2018 opened with dominant wins for the National Teams from Mexico and Puerto Rico.

    HERMOSILLO (FIBA U16 Americas Championship 2019) – The Centrobasket U15 Championship 2018 opened with dominant wins for the National Teams from Mexico and Puerto Rico.

    The Boricuas dominated Panama to a 91-31 victory. The Puerto Ricans shot for a 51% from the field and took full advantage of Panama’s 31 turnovers. Puerto Rico took over the leadership of the scoreboard in the opening quarter and never looked back. Jeremy Figueroa led the scoring for Puerto Rico with 17 points.

    The host of the Centrobasket U15 Championship debuted with a 95-38 win over Costa Rica. The Mexicans shot for a 56% from the field and won the battle for the boards 53-33. The host racked-up 29 assists and were led offensively by 15 points from Martin Flores and Miguel Figueroa respectively.

    Tomorrow on the second day of the Centrobasket U15 Championship, Panama will face Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic will take-on Puerto Rico.
